đź’ś Career Well-being: Worried About Job Cuts?

Dear Thriving Introvert! In this newsletter, I'll cover:

  • Are You Prepared for a Layoff? Here’s What You Can Do Now
  • Your LinkedIn Headline is 'Prime Real Estate'
  • You Are NOT Behind In Life

2025 began with a lot of uncertainty. That sentence alone can bring up many feelings. My friends, family, and clients are concerned about losing their jobs.

I've been there myself. I've been laid off twice, once in the US, and once in Brazil.

Both times due to company buyout: The companies were acquired by a bigger one, and my job became obsolete.

It was soul-crushing to say the least. I, the high achiever, rule follower, and top performer, no longer had a job.

No matter what your boss or company-wide message says about the layoff, it makes you feel like you were not good enough to keep.

As an HR professional, I was in meetings where layoff discussions happened. Despite what you might believe, many of those restructuring decisions are financial and have nothing to do with your self-worth.

However, a layoff can impact every aspect of your life: your savings, your healthcare, your relationships, your mental health, and how you feel about yourself.

Here's my advice: Get ready before you need to be ready! If you have been laid off or think it might happen, this week's article will help you get back on track.

I've been where you are, and I truly pray and hope you'll get through the storm as quickly as possible.

💡 Are You Prepared for a Layoff? Here’s What You Can Do Now

Layoffs are unpredictable. And if you’re an introvert who values stability, the thought of suddenly losing your job can feel overwhelming. But here’s the truth: preparation is power.

Even if a layoff isn’t on your radar, taking a few key steps today can protect your career, reduce stress, and help you bounce back faster if the unexpected happens.

Here's what you can do:

🟣 Recognize the Warning Signs: Is your company struggling financially? Are leadership changes happening? A shrinking workload and exclusion from key meetings can also signal trouble ahead.

🟣 Build a Safety Net: If possible, save 3–6 months of expenses and review your severance and unemployment benefits before you need them.

🟣 Keep Your Career Ready: An up-to-date LinkedIn profile, resume, and discreet networking strategy can make all the difference in landing your next role quickly, without scrambling.

If you ever face a layoff, your steps today will determine how smoothly you transition. I break it all down in my latest article.

đź’» Your LinkedIn Headline is 'Prime Real Estate'

In case you missed last week's article, I discussed LinkedIn Headline for Job Seekers: How to Get Noticed by Recruiters. Your headline is one of the first things recruiters see, and it plays a massive role in whether they click on your profile or scroll past. A strong LinkedIn headline can boost your visibility, help you stand out, and attract more job opportunities. I’ve shared a full breakdown (plus templates!).

đź’ś You Are NOT Behind In Life

It’s easy to feel like you’re “late” in life—late to a career change, late to a promotion, late to finding the right job, the right city, or the right balance.

But compared to who?

The idea that success must happen by a certain age is made up. Your path is yours alone.

Some people find their dream job at 25, others at 50.

Some build careers first and start families later, while others do the opposite, or neither.

Some take detours, pivots, or pauses—and still get to where they’re meant to be.

Your journey, your schedule, your timing. Trust it.

You're not behind. You're right on time.
